6-15-2013:
I'm going to make this fishing report short but sweet, because it's
been a long time since I woke up this morning at 4 am and still have
plenty to do before I go to bed. Trout fishing has been good all
around the Rockport area, but it has slowed a little this week due
to losing some water in the bays. The best catches have been coming
from San Antonio & Copano Bays while either wade fishing or fishing
the deep reefs with live croaker.
Redfish have been awesome for me since I target them more often now
rather than pursuing trout. Best bait for me has been mullet.
Hope all of you have a great
Father's Day weekend, and make some fond memories while out on the
water
I still have a few days in June in
which to book up solid for the month.
Give me a call today to
reserve your spot!
Until next time

6-15-2013 Hello To Everyone, The
June weather has been quite strange with "Northers" happening
frequently. Fronts coming from the north this time of the year have
been unusual to say the least. Many of the Guides admit they do not
remember ever experiencing these conditions. What all does this mean
in the "Fish Catching Department"? Well, what it means is fishing is
good to excellent one day and not so productive the next. But with
that being said we just completed doing a "Chemo Kids Tournament"
this
last Monday. Seeing those Kids with smiles from one ear to the other
to just catch anything made me appreciate it's not all about filling
a box with fish...it's the memories. What a case and point lesson to
remember again!!! Croakers are doing well in the 4-6 foot depths for
Trout and cut Shad has been doing well in the potholes for Reds.
Black Drum are showing in numbers and have been easy to catch on
shrimp. Please give us a call and lets go catch a memory or two!

6-15-2013:Hello fellow fishermen.
Trout fishing has been hot in Aransas Bay on live croaker. The big girls
are spawning on sandy shorelines lined with grassbeds. Free lined works
best, but if diving birds start grabbing your bait try a small slip
weight. High water has the redfish way up shallow. Set your bait in an
area where the the tide dumps off a flat and wait for them to move thru.
We have been taking good limits of red snapper on offshore trips with some
dorado and wahoo mixed in. So far we have hooked one blue marlin but the
shear power of a four hundred pound fish was a little to much for our
gear. The weather isn't the only thing heating up. Lots of hungry fish, so
lets book a trip and go get em!

Until next time, good luck and be safe out there on
the water.

6-15-2013:
Hello Sportsmen and ladies! Fishing and caching has been good.
This whole 2 weeks of June has been good. The live croaker have got
the size we want and the specks are eating them. As I have written
before June is one of my favorite months to fish and July is not
much different. The reefs up north have been great and so has been
down south. I went 3 days north and 3days south and fishing has been
great. Even the 6 to 13 year old kids are not having a problem
hooking fish. It's starting to get warm in the afternoons but
we have not had to fish past 1;00 PM with nice boxes of keeper
trout. Give me a call and I'll be glad to take ya'll fishing!

Redfish have been the go to fish early in the morning then moving on
to look for trout. Fishing has been good most days but there have
been a few tough days as well. Reds have been biting on cut perch
and mullet, trout are biting on croaker and piggy perch, and black
drum are showing up in big schools and we are catching them on dead
shrimp. Good luck and be safe out there, and give me a call to book
a trip if your coming down. I still have some dates open in July and
August but they are filling up fast.

6-15-2013 Hello fishrockport.com readers.
Still catching Black Drum , Redfish & Trout . This morning my plan was to
hit the Black drum first and then go trout fishing . Well darn it . As I
made my way to where the school of black drum I caught a un-mistakable
smell of watermelon . I kept to my plan and held a steady course for those
line stripping drum . I ran a short distance from the first trout slick
and darn it ; I ran across another strong smell of watermelon . This was
taking me off my game plan . Normally I hold true to my game plan because
there are reasons for that. I pulled up wind of the second trout slick and
we cast-out and started hooking trout steady for 30 or so minutes. When
the trout bite slowed I pulled anchor and made a bee line for the school
of black drum . We managed to box 11 black drum in short notice. I pulled
out and went up to shore and took a moment to drink some water and I
counted the trout. Wow we had 17 trout in a really short time . Not bad
for just using the nose .I had the same clients the next day as well and
we made a bee line even earlier to the trout the next morning to catch the
tail end of the incoming tide and popped 'em good in the exact spot as the
day before.
Sometimes you have to deviate from your plan because they might not be
there when you go back later in the trip. By the way the reason the trout
were there was because of shad was flicking the surface and trout just
love them.

Redfish are moving around and the slot size black drum are still
hanging around. We even caught a nice flounder also. I'm still
catching them on cut and live mullet and on small perch. I've found
them across from Palm Harbor and in last chance pass.

6-15-2013: Hello South
Texas Giggers! We’ve had some rain here and there – but
overall the fishing’s been absolutely great! We’ve been seeing lots
of baby flounder at 2 to 4 inches long – nice to see that
considering the water temps are already a little warmer than usual.
There have been big tide movements in the overnight hours so be sure
to target the slough and guts for those big flounder. Also, there
have been some excellent catches of black drum – that are just a fun
to catch and good to eat as redfish are – if not better! Flounder
fishing is so popular because it’s cool during the night and
families with younger children love these trip – see a beautiful
sunset, lots of stars, an unforgettable moonrise at certain times of
the month - while catching these unique and beautiful fish! Still
have a few days open around the 4th of July weekend – so come on
down and LET’S FLOUNDER!!!

6-15-2013: Trout is all that I
have been fishing for the last two weeks. Croaker are good for the
most part, but there are days when they are small and beat up. Boat
limits are common when the bait is good, but when the bait is bad it
can be tough. I have two fish this year ( two weeks) over 28. the
weather is still a factor, but surely it has to stabilize. I have
not heard a red fish report as everyone is trout fishing. Overall,
fishing is great and catching is even better. If you can focus and
pay attention a limit or a boat limit is there for the taking.
Summer time is here so please take advantage of the what the "Coast"

Redfish has been an early bite then we have had some nice catches of
trout mid day. Fishing patterns have been changing often but reds
have continued to stay in the swallow flats of south bay, brown and
root flats and hog inland flats. Bait of choice has been finger
mullet or cut perch or mullet. Trout have been hitting live shrimp
and piggy perch on the outside shorelines of Lydia Ann Channel
and outside dagger. June is booked up but have several days open in

6-15-2013:
Trout action has been good on the shell reefs and wells in Corpus Bay.
Redfish action continues to be good on the flats with live perch or
cut shad. The tide has been pretty high so you can get most anywhere
that is usually too shallow to get to. The reds have been in about 18
inch deep water. Drifting with live shrimp and popping corks has been
good for small reds and trout. Were using live croakers freelined on
the flats and along some of the shorelines and reefs. Check the edges
of the ICW for trout and reds if there is a good current moving. July
should be a great fishing month so give me a call to arrange your
fishing trip. I also have gift certificates available.

6-15-2013 The trout fishing
has been really picking up. The croaker have been the trick for
free-lining on shell reefs. Outside of Traylor Island, things are
also picking up and producing nice catches while wade fishing - my
favorite method! In the flats, Estes and elsewhere are holding
good numbers of reds and I would recommend using live finger mullet
in the sand holes. Thanks for reading my report!
