Lots of wind down here but it doesn't bother the redfish. The
redfish are biting like crazy, they have been on fire. They have
really been liking piggy perch and the heads off of the mullet, but
of course they always like live frisky mullet and menhadden shad. We
have been catching them in several places on Estes Flats, mostly in
the pot holes. Look for the holes and cast into them and wham - the
fight is on. Can't pin point any particular place the reds are
biting or hiding except the pot holes. The nice size puppy drum have
also been very hungry and we've had several days where we have
limited out on good eating meat of the black drum. Luck as some may
call it, we have been bringing in some trout. We normally don't fish
for trout but the ones who fish with croakers have been slaying the
trout. Several just oversized reds have been caught now swimming in
the flats, you just never know what's going to bite. Just hang on
and fight whatever bites, that's the fun of it.

6-1-2017:
Wind, wind and more wind has been our forecast most days. Its common
this time of year but it hasn't hurt our fishing very much.
Redfishing has started to slow down a little while the trout bite
has picked up tremendously. Start off on the drop off outside of
Traylor in 5 to 6 feet of water and work towards the grassline.
We've been getting some nice trout free lining croaker working it
from slow to moderate fast. If you want to get a little adventurous,
take a ride over to San Jose and work the shoreline in about 5 to 6
feet of water and focus on the potholes. That has produced some nice
boxes and gets you away from the crowds. Another area we've been
working has been the reefs in Nueces Bay. Working croaker over the
shell has produced nice boxes. If you cannot get croaker use shrimp
under a popping cork which also works well. Move reef to reef and
you should be able to achieve a nice box.

6-1-2017: Schools out! It's Summer
vacation time!
As we wrap up May and roll
into June, fishing keeps on getting better and better! The winds should
start to die down a little bit to where the bay waters will remain a
beautiful trout green color. Clam winds lead to cleaner waters which allow
us to cover more water, fishing and dodging the boat traffic which will
pick up with the arrival of summer. Pleasant temperatures and a gentle
breeze make for some great days in the water! Trout fishing is on
fire right now! My customers are catching their limit of trout 9 out of 10
trips! There are the occasional slow days where bite is tough but that's
when we grind it out to catch fish! The croaker bite is on and is
productive over shell and mud, producing fish in sand pockets and grass.
Having good fresh active croaker is key. If you croaker doesn't try to
swim to the bottom when you put in, it's time for a new one. Topwater and
plastic baits have been working when fished in the same area. Redfishing
has been good as well, while fishing cut bait on the bottom. Cut mullet
and cut shad have been doing the trick! Again, fresh bait is key here!
So who is ready to go spend a great day on the and catch some fish?!
Summer dates are filling up so don't wait....give us a call and get the
days you want booked! We can accommodate all sizes of groups and everyone
from the young beginner to old pro! All of my customers get a discount on

Howdy folks! Summertime is here and all the kiddos are getting out
for summer vacation, and what better way to spend it then to come
down to the coast and visit our beautiful beaches - Port Aransas,
Rockport, and Corpus Christi. After spending a full day out in the
sun there's no better way to get out and enjoy the cool breeze of
night and gig some flounder with me. One of my favorite things to do
is putting the youngsters on some fish and making a memory that will
last them forever! The flounder gigging in Port Aransas and
the Rockport area has been a hit and miss thing. Some nights we will
get on the flounder fast and heavy, only having to make a couple of
stops and then other nights, it turns into a grind with only finding
widely scattered fish, hitting 8 or so different spots. The flounder
haven't been on the same pattern night after night, which makes it a
little tough to dial them in. I can find them on grass one night, on
oysters shells the next night, hard sand way off of the banks the
night after that, etc. But, one thing is for certain - I will find
them on most nights, and we will stay out till we do! It has been
taking around 4.5 hours to gig a 20-25 flounder limit, with only a
very few sheepshead and black drum being gigged. July dates still
available - Give me a call to reserve 361-790-3271! Don't wait too long to book your trip - dates

Hello To Everyone! Have we had some wind and weather, or what?
The night before last we had a heck of a lightning storm with wind
and rain that knocked out our electricity. The reason I mention this
is when it begins to lightning the fish usually go deep even into
the next morning after, so remember start off fishing deep. Croakers
are working well for Trout and occasionally will catch you a Red, or
two. If the Red Fish are not in the sand pockets throw just outside
the pockets into the grass with live Mullet, cut mullet, or Croakers
on Popping Corks. Check out this month's photos. Two of those Reds
are taggers (32 1/2 in. the other 30 1/2 in.) and the other 4 were
from 23-25 inches. They missed 6 more and one broke the lin . As you
know school is out, or almost out, and the kids are ready to go do

6-1-2017:
We had a weird May this year - lots of stronger late cold fronts
some lasting several days made it fill very nice and having a lot of
west wind also making tides lower than normal strong west winds like
these can-bow the water out of the bays making tides lower than
normal even lower with different moon fazes strong south east wind
blows the water back in the bays, normally May tide run super high
cause by fronts that don't make it down here when these fronts come
near the Panhandle of Texas they cause the sea breeze to pick up and
blow out of the south east some times blowing 30 and sometimes
higher gust up to 40 or more, these front sometimes come back to
back not allowing the winds to relax causing the tides to come in
higher than normal this is what we call the bull tides that on
happens in April and May cause by moon fazes this type of tides
allows bay life to reproduce in the back lakes salt grass and flats
sea grass now in the months of June these moon fazes allow the tides
to run lower than normal expected when low pressure systems come
into play the tides can run high sometime super high like bull tides
for the weather is hot and humid, the only thing that helps us
staying a little colder would be the Gulf of Mexico breeze. Ok May
is over so let's talk about June and the Gulf of Mexico can became
dangerous with Hurricane season starting so keep a eye on the
weather or when you book a trip with me I will keep my eye on the
weather for you so your trip with me will be awesome and not a wash
out, June is just as warm with low tides making fish drop off in
deeper pockets, shoreline, flats, shell reefs and sand so made
anglers are site casting at big schools of redfish chunking mullet,
crab, shade, shrimp, artificial lures, and gulp. Trout are on the
edges of shoreline drop offs, channels, deeper sand grass mixed
flats and shell reefs edges my anglers are flipping croaker, live
shrimp under a cork, artificial lures and gulp. The anglers on my
boat are site casting at big schools of drum sinking live shrimp,
dead shrimp and gulp in front of them near edges of shoreline,
deeper drop offs of channels edges and shell reefs. The difference
anglers I get are dragging in flounder using mullet, live shrimp,
dead shrimp, artificial lures and gulp throwing into sand bars mixed
with grass, channel edges, edges of shell reefs. If you what to be
one of these anglers that are site casting at big schools of fish,
please call me so you can book a awesome trip and bring your friends

6-1-2017:
Hello Everybody! Let us start with the weather. Windy! Cold
fronts in May? Yes! Croaker next---yes they are here, but half are
good and half are still pretty small. They will absolutely catch
fish, including some big trout. OK let us talk about fishing. Reds
are in the flats eating pin perch and shad. Some days they are very
easy and the next day they surprise everyone. Trout are here as well
and eating croaker very well. The windy days have hampered some
efforts if you choose not to get in rough water. Yes, trout can
still be caught in the wind, but you may pay the price. Overall
fishing is good and the weather should stabilize soon. Heck we are
in June! Right?

6-1-2017:
Hello South Texas Flounder Lovers!! Flounder gigging has been
fantastic! We have been limiting out on flounder almost every
trip, and when we didn't it was 0nly short by one or two, the
fish are already in their summer pattern, I just wish the
weather would realize that too!
Had a bad night last Saturday, we went out like normal and
then got hit suddenly by 30 mph winds, so we went to the dock
and were soaked in the process, I mean this thing came out of
nowhere from the east, it was awful. Did not charge my
customers, that just wouldn't be right. I would like them to
contact me and try again, things just happen. We haven't seen
many drum these last few weeks, water temp is starting to
climb and we will settle into summer mode in June. Update on
the new boat, it will be in service, hopefully by the mid to
end of august, it will be 24 ft. in total length and outfitted
the same as the present one, just tons of more room for your
comfort. Give me a ring and let's get you on the books, it's
going to be a great summer, let's gig em!

I just want to start by giving a big shout out to my
ladies that fished the Babes on the Bay All Ladies
Fishing Tournament here in Rockport. The team placed
2nd in any bait guided division and 1st place big
trout. That was out of over 120 teams in the guided
division. They fished hard and were duly rewarded. As
I have wrote in earlier reports the fishing has been
outstanding. The bite continues to be good for trout
with limits being caught on a regular basis. The
croaker bite is in full swing. The redfish bite has
stayed consistent while wading with soft plastics or
live bait. The black drum bite has been scattered for
me but when we do find them it has been fun and all
good size with limits to boot. We are into the full
summer swing this month. If you haven't been fishing
as of late don't wait ant longer. It doesn't get much
better than now. If you are looking to do some fun
summertime fishing give me a call or email I would
love to take you. Thanks!

5-1-2017:
Well here it is, May, already. School is almost out for Summer break
and it is time to plan your fishing trips. The Trout bite has been
excellent fishing in two to three feet of water over shell with live
shrimp and a popping cork. The water temps are still rising and the
Trout are starting to spawn. It is time to make the switch to
fishing with Croaker. We prefer to free line them for the best
results. Red fish are plentiful this time of year. We are doing well
casting live shrimp, fresh dead shrimp, live mullet and cut crab.
There are a ton of just undersized Reds everywhere. You will have to
catch and release several of these smaller fish while waiting for
the slot Reds. Be patient and take plenty of bait you will end up
with a limit. The Surf Fishing is cranking up. Excellent catches of
Red fish and Trout are being caught. The wind has been brutally high
this past week and has made the surf very high. Before you go be
sure and check the wind forecast and plan accordingly. Have you
booked your fishing charters yet? It is time to book those summer

5-1-2017: We are still trout
fishing on the flats using live shrimp and popping corks while
drifting. There are some trout on the shorelines along the
grass beds. If you fish the shorelines use live croaker.
Although they are small the bait stands have them and you can
still catch fish with them however being smallish they don't
stay alive very long. Most of the fish or nice size from 18 to
23 inches long. There are redfish scattered around on the
flats. If you can get some pin perch then that would be the
bait to use. The reds are medium-sized keepers 22 to 24
inches. We are also catching trout and reds on soft plastics
while drifting the flats. Pumpkin seed seems to outperform the
rest of the colors.

Fishing charters in Corpus Christi have been going really well
this spring and we've been getting limits of nice sized trout
and sight casting black drum in the Laguna Madre. We've been
free lining live shrimp or using popping corks with live
shrimp for trout and sight casting black drum using dead
shrimp on a jig head. Baffin Bay fishing charters are great
right now too. We've been catching redfish and trout on
popping corks with live shrimp and easy limits of good eating
sized black drum using dead shrimp on bottom! Happy

It is time to book those summer
trips. Call us and get in on the action before we are all booked up.

Well April was a GREAT month for giggin to say the very
least!! We repeatedly brought limits of flounder back to the
dock with some sheepshead and drum in the mix. My clients did
a great job and had a lot of fun giggin BIGGER than average
sized flounder for the month of April. Now that the bigger
sized female flounder are making their way back into our bay
systems from the Gulf it is time to get on them. Lately we
have been finding flounder over hard sand near drop offs and
on the flats. On windy nights we are targeting them near the
grass in sandy pot holes. I know for a fact that from now
through October we will be finding flounder in good numbers.
As the days get longer and hotter it will only HEAT up the
GIGGIN ACTION for Straight to The Point Guide Service.
I still have some
openings for May but remember that weekends book FAST. So act
now and get your Flounder Giggin Charter booked today.
THE CROAKER ARE
HERE!!!
Trout and Redfish daytime fishing trips have been very good as
well using Live Croaker for bait. We have been bringing good
numbers of trout & redfish to the dock. The drum bite has been
good as well on live shrimp. Call today to book your Flounder
GIGGIN or Trout & Redfish Adventure.

I think I speak for all last night - Terrific trip and
can't wait to come back. Thanks for all your hard work
and good conversation. In our experience over the last
30 years, most coastal inshore guides have been elderly
and grumpy as hell. Miss 2 fish and they take the rod
away. You have a fresh, amiable and informative new
approach. Keep it up. Best of luck and hope to see you
again as soon as possible.
