OFFERING BAY FISHING AND
NIGHT FLOUNDER GIGGING TRIPS

Bay Fishing and Flounder Gigging have been great so far this
March! We have been finding many schools of redfish coming
into the flats already which means this spring and summer are going
to be one of the best year's ever! Remember that the fishing
conditions in March typically mean - moving around to find the fish,
so don't get stuck on a location. Just because they were there
yesterday doesn't mean they are there today. Although the cold
fronts are weakening now, the water temps are still cool - so be
prepared to fish the drop-offs near the flats... but for the most
part, the Redfish will be holding over shallow water around mid-day,
getting some sun then dropping back down to drop- offs during the
night. Redfish this time of year are picky eaters. If you're
fishing bait, you'll find that one day they want cut mullet, the
next peeled shrimp. Live shrimp has been working for specks
along the edges of the ICW and drifting has proved to be the best
way to throw-your bait up against the banks. Flounder have been
plentiful but mostly seeing the smaller flounder with a couple of
nice-sized ones a night mixed in!
me a call to reserve a day... This is the time to go fishing!

WHERE THE WATER IS PRISTINE AND THE FISH ARE ALWAYS BITING!!!
we are finally getting sunshine and warmer temperatures. Catching has been
really good with one Oops out of the last 3 weeks. Hey I'm human. April we
normally get a really high tide which is a truly good thing. I'm writing
this on March 28th . I had the privilege of fishing Gary Y. and a buddy of
his today. We made our way to a spot that has a slight indentation in the
middle of some truly skinny water. I polled up a short distance and
started seeing signs of redfish. Placed our baits inside of the slightly
deeper water and in no time one of my clients had a real bruiser of a
redfish on ; we finally landed the fish and was a respectful 28 1/2 inch
with some serious shoulders on him . Not bad for the first fish of the
morning. A short wait later we put another one in the box. Another bruiser
at 28 inches. You see where the trend is; all of the fish were 27 inches
and up . The last fish caught to make our limits was 21 inches. What the
heck all bruisers and last one was a " Wanna Be ". I kinda poked at my
fishermen that we had a impressive box going and then they ruined it .
Nothing like a enjoyable morning on the water . Wouldn't ya agree. Give me
a call 361-510-6655 and let me know you found me on fishrockport.com!

SPECIALIZING IN TROPHY
REDFISH, SPECKLED TROUT & BLACK DRUM
April, the beginning of spring, it is one of my fishing seasons. The
weather is warming up, the tides are low and the fish are hungry!
All along the Texas coastline the hotels and bays will soon be
filling up with fishermen and tourist from various parts of the
nation, and all will be ready to enjoy some rest and relaxation.
Redfish are filling up the flats in schools, and filling limits
lately has been good. Once these small fronts pass, we will be
seeing them tailing in the backlakes. I have witnessed this twice
this spring already on early mornings. Cut mullet, live mullet, pin
perch, live shrimp and small crabs are on the menu, but which one
they want is changing daily. When I leave the dock I have over $100
in bait alone to be certain we have the best chance possible to
catch them. Trout can be caught while wading in belly deep water
with artificial lures, live shrimp and croaker. They should be
coming in from the surf soon, and with the fresh influx of salt
water running into the bays through Cedar Bayou it should be a great
year for trout fishing! Black Drum are running in small
schools over grass in the flats and shallow edges near drop offs.
Generally while we are fishing for them you will see the schools
swimming just under the surface. This is a thrill if you've never
done it. Come on down, spend a day fishing, and some quality
time with friends and family.

Hello To Everyone, Isn't it strange how we voice our concerns when
its too cold, or when its too windy, or when it's too dry for too
long periods of time, or when it"s just plain hot. But let it began
to warm after the winter, or the wind becomes dead still, or a front
comes through, or its raining buckets, and then we began to voice
our concerns about how cold it is, or how we need some wind, or etc,
etc,....just the opposite from what we were griping about what seems
30 minutes ago. Am I right? Well, I got a solution!!! You have not
gotten out enough and its time to go Fishing! The weather is warming
and becoming a more stable. Trout are beginning to show and hitting
on live Shrimp. Red Fish are in hot pursuit, also chasing live
shrimp. Please contact us and "lets go
catch you some memories".

4-1-2015 Hello to all. The last
couple of weeks the weather has been great and so has the bite.
Water temperatures this week were in the 70's in the flats and mid
60's in the bay's. Redfish have been great on Pin Perch, Sea Lice
and Shrimp. If you like throwing artificial use 1/8 ounce jigs with
a soft plastic with a chartreuse tail. These fish have been very
shallow with limits. Black Drum have been on the shell reefs biting
on live and dead shrimp. The trout bite has improved as expected.
Trout our being caught on soft plastics, top waters and live shrimp
under a popping cork. The weather has improved and its very nice
out. Come enjoy a nice day on the water and catch some fish! Hope to
see you soon.
Still have a few days left

Reds are in the flats and eating anything you put in front of them.
I am using pin perch and sea lice, but they are also eating shad,
finger mullet, and shrimp. Boat limits are common especially on
decent weather days. Oversized reds are also common with one to two
a day expected. black drum are in their usual places eating shrimp
(the school fish) and crab and sea lice for the oversize drum. Trout
are also beginning to show up in the Aransas area and believe it or
not for me the best bite has been on top water while wading. the
water and air temp is warming and the season is off to the races.
Beat the boat traffic and come down as soon as you can; you will
have a blast.

GIGGING AT NIGHT IS FANTASTIC!
South Texas Gigging Fans! Spring is officially here!
We have had some pretty stressful nights out on the the water the
past couple of weeks with dense fog and visibly only about 1/8 of a
mile. When it gets that bad and you don't have any bearing to go off
of, that's when you can depend on your electronics. Without a GPS or
a compass on your boat you will be out there doing circles. The
flounder gigging has been great with the warming days we have had
lately. We are still on this low tide pattern falling hard at night.
All the years I have been doing this I have never seen the tide this
low, for this long of a period, at this time of the year. I have
been finding all of my flounder in sloughs and guts way in the back
of them where the water is falling off of the flats. It is still
taking about 5 hours to gig a 20 fish limit, still lots of
sheepshead around and a few black drum.

As we journey
through Spring and into Summer, look for Redfish on the grassy flats
and along shoreline drop-offs. When you see shiny popping and
flipping mullet, shrimp, and other baitfish rest assured the redfish
wont be very far away. If you concentrate on fishing extremely
shallow water of about 10” to about 1’-6” keep your eyes peeled for
a glistening Redfish tail to pop out of the water. If you don’t like
to chance fishing shallow water with your boat or wading, you always
have other opportunities. This is what I like to call “pothole
hopping”. Look for Redfish to feed on moving water such as incoming
and outgoing tides.

perch, and live shrimp. There are lots of undersize reds around but

the best method on these very windy days. Trout action is average for
this time of year. Live shrimp under a popping cork has given the best
results. There should be more trout soon on the flats as the water
