MORE BIG FISH GUIDE SERVICE
Fish the bays and flats surrounding Aransas Pass, Port Aransas,
Rockport, and Corpus Christi with Capt. Ron.
Our area is home to some of the most fertile fishing grounds found on
the Texas Gulf Coast.
Whether your desire is fishing for trophy speckled trout, monster bull
redfish, wade fishing, fly fishing, or fishing with artificial lures,
Capt. Ron can take care of everything for your next fishing trip.
Fishing is still mainly about redfish. Were catching lots of reds on
the flats using live piggies. The tide has been above normal at times
so were fishing near islands and reefs around the flats. Reds like
shallow water so try to find a water depth of about 12 to 18 inches.
Were catching a few trout on the flats as well while fishing for reds.
Most of the trout are 15 to 18 inches and red are 20 to 23 inches.
October is generally a good month for both trout and reds. I hope you
can get in on it.

10-2-2014: The water is higher than
high. Don't think I've seen it this high in over 30 years. The reds
are hiding in the back lakes and along the shore line, I guess to
get out of the deeper water. They have been schooling up along
various shores. One thing for sure their appetite hasn't changed.
They are still gobbling up cut and live mullet. Good catching to

FALL IS IN THE AIR NOW!!!
Water has cooled down, days have cooled and fishing for redfish and
night gigging is hot right now. Limits have been common this week
although the fish have made us work for them we have been gigging
some nice flounder and catching nice redfish. Flounder have started
to stage to prepare for their travel later in the year, we have been
gigging multiple fish in the same area usually in sloughs and
drains. Average size of flounder has been 18" as the run nears we
will start seeing some larger fish. Remember flounder gigging is
closed for the month of November so October is filling up fast, I
have several days open in December for night gigging available.
On our day trips I have found redfish have been holding very shallow
less than 2 foot water depths. Bait of choice has been cut bait and
live perch if anchor fishing, or soft plastics with natural color
artificials. We are still running into some schooling redfish and
black drum in 3-4 foot depths adjacent to shallow water I am sight
casting these with jumbo dead shrimp. Trout have been tougher but
catching some along Lydia Ann channel but my focus has been redfish
the last few weeks.
Call Captain Chad to discuss trip options or availability at 361
Floundering has been great as we'll. Several
20"+ flounder and limits on a few night gigging trips this week.

along the shorelines. Peak movement time has been after 11:30pm.

30th was the highest tide on record for the year, and the schools of
redfish that were bunched-up, spread out in places they and we
hadn't been in years. The big ones are here and the slot size reds
are running with them. It's not uncommon to release 10 to 20
oversized reds each day, but on average we are catching 2 to 5 along
with our keepers. We are making a pretty good run I. The morning,
but it is well worth the time. This is the time to book your trip if
its big bill reds that you are after. I use light tackle with 20 lb
line and set the drag just right for the battle. Give me a call and

Hello To Everyone, The last days of September proved to be
interesting as far as the "Prime Time Red Fish Time". I have
mentioned in previous Articles and Fishing Reports the last part of
September through ThanksGiving is "catching" Redfish and usually
your limits depending on the weather. Well, its been great fishing
not phenomenal fishing until 9/29/14-Monday. Then, the pattern I am
accustom to this time of year started and I mean started with
absolutely silly catching every cast. Check out the pictures that
accompany this report...the gentleman in black and the lady in
blue...Steve and Becky. Becky wanted to make sure everyone knew she
caught the biggest and her limit first. Well, I guess they'll debate
that issue for a while huh? What fun and what memories that was!!!
Nothing is guaranteed except death and taxes, but
please contact us and "lets go catch you some memories".

Hear Protection of Flounder - NPR
- Hey There South Texas Giggers and Anglers!!!
Not a lot to talk about, September is that transition period for
better things to come! We have only been out a handful of times with
high winds, water and a lot of rain. But the high water pushed the
flounder and LARGE sheepshead to the back of my favorite shoreline
and we knocked them dead! with 19 flounder ,9 sheepshead, and 5 drum
and a lot of these in the 20" plus range. Needless to say my
party of 4 was extremely pleased and everyone will be with the
cooler temps of October. So lets go get some!
Still have some good dates available and
remember November is closed so now's the time to go!
THIS IS THE BEST TIME TO GO, so get ready and come get some.

always be catching

GIGGING AT NIGHT IS FANTASTIC!
Tides and Rain...Well, the gigging has remained fair overall with
conditions of high tides and much needed rain. There has been high
water up on the sand banks, where they are usually dry. When the
water gets high the flounder have so many places to swim and hide. I
have been gigging my flounder in reeds that run along the shores.
There is a myth that some people believe, that a flounder will not
swim through a thick patch of reeds to get up on the bank - but,
somehow the flounder are able to swim through it. If you see a
little strip of clearing in the reeds, that is where the flounder
are going to be. There are a few flounder I am gigging in dead
seagrass, that has been blown onto the bank. With the upcoming cool
front arriving at the end of this week, it should start turning
things around. A few flounder should start moving out of the back
bays and lakes, to get ready for their migration out to the Gulf.
For a charter group of four, it has been taking us about five
hours to gig our twenty-fish limit. The flounder are averaging about
two and half pounds to five pounds. We are not seeing very many
sheepshead and drum out, about two to five per night.

Fall is in the air and I hope it stays. Red fish are in the flats
and I hope they stay. Catching has been very good with boat limits
common for the last seven days. the weather has been tolerable with
just a few rain showers. Hopefully this will end soon. Trout are
also being caught on Piggy perch and croaker. October should be
fantastic red fish month as it normally only gets better and better.

Thank you Lord!
Limits of reds have been the norm for me last few days on the water
thanks to the water levels dropping back to normal since the storms
in the gulf. Black drum have been tough due to still being in little
schools instead of the 50-100 fish schools. Once the water cools off
some more they shud bunch back up somewhat making them easier to
