7-1-2016: REDS AND DRUM AT ALLYN'S BITE - THAT'S THE BIG NEWS! Fence Lake and other back-lack areas are bringing in nice-size trout especially around the Aransas Bay Wells - and their biting on Croaker. Also, the reefs in Aransas Bay are producing good early bites for trout (still on croaker). Caught some killer Redfish along the Spalding Shoreline Ė late evenings are working best for those and even some large flounder caught in teh creeks of San Jose's shoreline. Copano Bay is producing large trout along the deep reefs catching Trout where as Newcomb Bend and Turtle Pen are holding some really nice redfish (on evening bites and using cut mullet for best results!) July is the truest summer month of them all - fun in the sun, fishing, swimming and plenty of fun things to do here...come one down and take a break! Call me for an exciting day on the water!!

7-1-2016: Hello To Everyone,  Trout fishing is still good to excellent and the Red Fish are still scattered. When you find them (Red Fish) they are in a "pile", but finding them with as much rain as we have had, that has scattered them, can sometimes be difficult. Croakers are obviously in the Bait Stands, but Piggies are beginning to show up which in my opinion is very good news. The Fourth of July is on its way so if you have not booked yet I would suggest to do so A.S.A.P. Please contact us and book a trip, or two. 7-1-2016: Get Off the Couch!!  It's time to get out and go fishing. The trout bite has been extremely good the last few weeks. It's been a early morning bite using croaker or piggies on the drop-off on San Jose, Traylor and other areas. Some days the trout want croaker and some days piggies so take a little of both and use a size 5 or 6 croaker hook. Sometimes the bite dies off and you might have to move once in a while but you'll still get em if you work your bait.  Nueces Bay has been doing well producing good trout on the reefs using the same bait. It's normal to hook a red once in a while so move from reef to reef and work your bait.  Red bite has slowed somewhat during this time of the year as they usually move out of the flats. But if you go slow and move around you can find some here and there. The drum are starting to show up so keep some fresh dead shrimp in the ice box. Look for the wakes along shorelines and go slow or you'll spook them. They'll disappear quick if you make to much noise.

7-1-2016:  Well it was due to get hot since summertime is now officially here. Fishing had been really awesome for me, but now it seems that I either land on them and catch limits of red fish real fast, or I struggle and scratch a few out through the morning. Thankfully most days in the last week I've landed on them since the water has fallen out and we have lost most of our wind. Those windless days have been brutal because of the humidity and sun bouncing off the water. Typically July is a very good month for me, I just hope it holds!
I still have some dates open this month, so if you would like to book a trip - give me call and we'll go stretch some lines!

7-1-2016  Hi everyone! Well it's hot and so is the flounder gigging this time of year!   I'm bringing-in limits most nights (except a couple of nights were the wind was kicking up).   The average flounder sizes are 16" to 18" and my customers had quite a few from 20-23". One was even 6 pounds. As for sheepshead and drum - always picking-up a few here and there as we go!  Reds are on the drop-offs where a lot of bait are hiding-out in the grass.  The trout can also be found near the grassy areas.  If you get a chance and are your own captain, try hitting the small oil platforms for nice-size trout.  Use croaker and shrimp free-lined for best results!
YOU DESERVE SOME FUN, DON'T YOU!!!   GIVE A CALL IF YOU WANT TO GIG WITH ME!

7-1-16: GREAT FISHING... HAPPENING NOW!!!

Hey folks it is July and here come the days with little to no wind. This is a perfect time for surf fishing. Join us for a trip to cedar bayou. Fishing the surf at sunrise is an excellent way to catch some really nice trout. The trout bite has been good fishing with croaker over shell reefs in two to three feet of water. As the water continues to heat up the trout will move deeper until we are fishing up to six feet deep.
Red fish are being caught on cut crab and finger mullet fishing next to grass with a mud bottom.
The black drum are excellent fishing fresh peeled shrimp next to reefs.

7-1-2016: What a great month we have had and I know we will have a great summer. The trout are going really good across the bay at Allyn's Bite on free- line live croaker. The reds are in a little deeper water in the middle of Estes Flats on a Carolina rig with live mullet. The black drum have shown-up at Mud Island along the shell reefs too.  We free-line fresh dead shrimp especially around the wells in Aransas Bay that are holding some good numbers of trout also.

7-1-2016:  Hello Everybody, Trout fishing is very, very good with boat limits 99 to 100 % of the time. They are eating croaker and piggy perch. Red fish are off a little. I have not been in the flats in sometime, but the guys fishing there for red fish are telling me they are scarce most days. Early in July, when the tide, drops out, red fishing should pick up. As always July will be an outstanding month. Trout and reds should be available and July is midway through the summer. I would suggest you plan a trip to the coast and enjoy the area activities. I simply do not see how that could be a bad choice. Memories will be made and fun for all will be shared.

FLOUNDER GIGGING AT NIGHT IS FANTASTIC!  CALL: 361-790-3271-

7-1-2016: LOW TIDES - FAST LIMITS  The Coastal Bend gigging action is holding strong. Limits of flounder are coming in every night! The low tide has made for some easy gigging. The flounder have nowhere to hide. The slow outgoing tide at night is pulling crystal clear water off of big shallow flats, which has made it pretty easy for spotting the flounder.  I have found most of my fish laying in the bottom of guts in about three feet of water, leading up to big shallow flats. Most of the flounder are averaging about two pounds, typical summer size. All of the fish have been laying on hard sand and short seagrass. We have been gigging a thirty flounder limit in about three hours.  I have had lots of 6 person groups this summer, and can easily accommodate thanks to the new boat. If you haven't made it out yet, give me a call.

Ron can take care of everything for your next fishing trip.

7-1-2016: We have had lighter winds the past few weeks and the fishing has improved. Trout fishing has been best in the morning before the afternoon wind gets up. Fishing is still best for trout along the shorelines where you find areas of grass on the bottom. Live Croakers have been the most productive bait. If you're looking for quality over quantity then top waters have been producing early in the morning while wading along the shorelines. The wells in Corpus Christi bay have been holding some nice trout. Here soft plastics or live Croakers have been best. The shell reefs in copano Bay have been holding some nice trout. There are still scattered Reds on the flats. Anchor fishing with live pin perch has been the best method. Fish in water about 18 inches deep. Fresh cut Shad has been a good bait also. Book your trip and come on down while the weather is still calm.

7-1-2016: Hello South Texas Anglers!  Fishing this month is nothing short of fantastic!  We are still getting some nice size fish and there is a real abundance of 15 to 16 inch keeps every where we go, there's been some rain, but 2 days later everything goes back to normal, we also get the almost rare 25-26 inch flounders!   There are Redfish now in both island moorings and the Lydia Ann channel by Port Aransas, one slough off the Lydia Ann had a large group of 25 to 30 inch reds, they muddy the water so much ,I had to move somewhere else to gig flounder. We sure needed some mullet and poles just then.  Trout and drum are still on St. Joe across from Rockport, all though the fish on St. Joe aren't the biggest, there are plenty of keepers mixed in.  There was a report yesterday of some very large trout being caught in the surf in front of Cedar Bayou.

It has been a slow bite and patience has been a must have. I've waited longer in one spot for redfish than I normally do, but the persistence has paid off. I've been catching quite a few flounder in with the Reds. The Reds I've found are on the outside beach and over in South Bay. The finger mullet have shown up and that's what all the Reds and flounder alike have been feeding on. I've offered them both cut and live, both are equally successful. have always dreamed of. Beginners to Seasoned Anglers - Come on, Let's go!

6-1-2016: TARGETING REDFISH
Redfish are known by the epic pound for pound, drag-pulling fight that leaves many avid anglers in a state of addiction. Redfish are generally regarded as more difficult to find and catch than speckled trout, which only adds to the addiction. There are a few basic things that you need to know before going to chase reds. If redfish hear/see you they will stop feeding. Signs to find redfish are slicks, mud boils, scared bait, and birds working fast. You always want to pair these signs up to find fish. My personal favorite sign of feeding fish are birds working low, and hard across the water. Things you should avoid doing while hunting redfish are slamming boat hatches, stomping on the deck, dropping things on the boat, and playing loud music.  Learning to find and catch redfish consistently takes a lot of time, patience, and persistence. It can even be downright frustrating. Donít get discouraged because learning this skill is no easy task. Hiring a good guide to take you out for reds can help you put it all together. One of my favorite things about being a fishing guide is putting someone on their first redfish because it is usually one of those things you never forget and itís very satisfying for me to be a part of that. To book a trip with me or inquire about a trip you can call/text me at (313)384-6463.

To see pictures of my most recent fishing trips, go to my Facebook Page and if you want to catch a whole lot of fish and need to reserve your trip date, call 313-384-6463 or send me an e-mail.  I will get back to you just as soon as I get off the water!
