Winter pattern has started early this year. Low fishing pressure due
to hunting season, Lower tides forced out by cold fronts = (Lots of
fish), Cooler weather temperatures and leaving dock at a later time
allowing for my customers to sleep in a bit is what makes these
trips enjoyable this time of year. There are several reasons these
fish drop out of back lakes and out of the flats here are a few
notable reasons. Tide levels are a major contributor. Tide levels
are influenced by cold fronts just as hurricanes blow water in which
create high tide, north wind from a frontal system pushes water out
leaving the fish high and dry with nowhere to go but out. if you can
find these exits of the lakes and guts inside the flats you can find
the fish. Another major reason the fish leave the back lakes is
because of the water temperatures. Cooler overnight temperatures
cause the fish to seek refuge in the deeper guts which typically has
warmer current flow with a muddy bottom which holds heat for the
colder nights. Live shrimp, dead shrimp and finger mullet or my
baits that I prefer. Love to drag soft plastics along the drop
offs... also for trout and redfish, watermelon and pink are the
color's I usually throw with colder water temperatures.

everyone. Just took Don & Anita Smith duck hunting and after the hunt we
drifted the flats ; casting soft plastics. We caught redfish from
undersize upwards to 27 inches. We were fishing with Berkley Gulp plastics
and the color we fished with was New Penny & Electric Chicken. I am
fishing with them again on November 16 and we are gonna fish with bait .
We are targeting redfish and black drum.

REDFISH, SPECKLED TROUT & BLACK DRUM
is here and the reds and drum are back in the flats, and some nice
trout are showing up in a few of the honey holes. Though we don't
know what the future holds as far as weather, it seems like it may
be a mild winter with a few cold blast now and then. Generally our
temperatures November, December and January hover around the 50's to
60's, and often reach 70's to even the low 80's, so don't be afraid
to give fishing a try after you've bagged that big buck or stack a
few pork chops in the freezer. With Cedar Bayou open, the fresh
influx of gulf water into our bays bring warmer water temps, fresh
bait, and numbers of fish running in with the currents. Give me a

Hello To Everyone, The front is here and its cold and rainy!! But
the fishing has been phenomenal and the duck hunting has been a
blast...so to speak. The last two trips fishing I've had both
limits...Trout and Reds each day! Beautiful days and great catching.
Piggies have been the bait of choice and it's unbelievable they're
still available, but they are. Who knows how much longer they will
be. As I mentioned earlier it's cold and rainy. This front will
bring thousands of ducks from the frigid north and a "cast and
blast" will only make it that much more fun. As you know we have an
Airboat now and booking trips. Please contact us for dates
available. Lets go "catch and bag you some memories".

- Hey There South Texas Giggers and Anglers!!!
Unfortunately, there is little to report this month, we are closed
for November. The flounder are staging as we speak and they will be
running for the gulf. Because of the much larger population they
will be going out in probably 3 groups. The small to medium, then a
little later the medium to large ones and then by the end of the
month into December ,the largest flounder will move out and they
will be 5 to 10 lb. fish. I want to take this time to advertise my
special of 2 persons for 200 and then up to 6 persons total for 75
additional. We will get large flounder and gig a lot of large
sheepshead and black drum, I promise you will not be disappointed.
The first 2 weeks of December is the best time to gig record size
fish, it will be cooler, but the rewards will be great! Come get

Catching is still great. Reds are in
the flats eating piggy and pin perch. the fish are in the upper end
of the slot with some oversize mixed in. trout are still hitting
live croaker and soft plastics are working well too. The frontal
systems have begun and the water is cooling down. The next two weeks
should be good to go and Thanksgiving weekend should see busier than
normal boat traffic. I don't think I would want to be a

INTERESTED IN HUNTING?
There has definitely been less
fishing pressure around here the last few weeks and the fishing has
been great for me and my clients. This past weekend I was able to
make one anchor each day, after my duck hunt, to limit my clients
out on their fish. Just don't get much better than that. Other days
fishing have also been good but I've had to work a little harder for
It's been a little warm here lately and the duck hunting has been a
little slow, but we've still managed to shoot some birds. With this
little arctic blast we had in here last week though, the birds have
shown up and things are looking really good with the ducks really
starting to show up now!!
I still have some dates yet to book for the thanksgiving holidays
(November) if you would like to get in on some great fishing and or
some duck hunting.

Nothing much has changed since last report. Its still all about
redfish. Were catching reds on mullet and live shrimp. The pin perch
are still plentiful so were using more mullet. A very low tide will
put lots of fish along the drop-offs for a few days and should be easy
picking for limits of reds. When the tide is higher were catching fish
drifting the flats with live shrimp and popping corks as well as soft
plastics. White has been a good color.

Hey Folks, sorry its been a
while, We are starting to see the cool fronts and the fall fishing
is in full swing as we have been picking up decent numbers of Black
drum schooling up along shorelines and still finding some Redfish
and an occasional Flounder on the flats near deeper water guts on
cut and live mullet. We have been getting the drum on Shrimp, the
perch have started and I said stress started to leave us alone as in
some previous trips the perch would suck the shrimp off the hook
almost immediately so this is a big PLUS in Fall/Winter fishing.
Keep in mind Redfish tend to stay up on the flats year round I still
have a few days left in November and quite a few days left in
December open. Donít shy away from the cold temps during these fall
and winter Months, remember fish have to eat too. We can accommodate
from the best of anglers to the most novice. We have been fishing
from Rockport to Ingleside If you havenít tried sight fishing this
might be a great time to learn, please make sure to bring the
sunshine with you.

11-16-2014: This cool weather has the
fish all confused. They don't know whether to eat or starve. It has
really been exciting fishing lately. Haven't had any problem finding
my limit of reds, but have had to look for them. They have been in
California Hole and also by the Airboat Docks. My normal baits have
been still producing, live or cut mullet.
Good catching to you,
