8-1-2016: Hello To Everyone, There is an old saying "You should have been here yesterday"! Is that not the truth, or another one, "the next day after ya'll left we hammered them"! Have you ever heard either one of those statements? I have, I've said them, and many times they are correct? The main solution is, in my opinion there's nothing guaranteed, but death and taxes...so if you want to catch fish keep fishing...the fish are there...do everything you can to catch them. A couple of weeks back I was getting tired of hearing the Red Fish are not hitting, they are are not here, no one's catching them. Well, I decided I would concentrate on trying my best to know WHY? I went through all the baits mullets: piggies, live, and dead baits. Then, I decided to go to what has worked hundreds of times in the past...large chunks of bloody cut mullets. In three trips we had 24 Reds with 18 keepers. Needless to say that does not happen everyday. If you want to catch fish, then keep casting. For Speckle Trout double Piggies are working best.

Let's go catch you some memories!  Call: 432-349-0353 ~ "Prime Time Red Fishing Season is year-round!!

8-1-2016:  It's pretty hot out there!!!! Get on the water early, drink plenty of fluids, catch em and cook em. The trout bite has been early morning and usually starts to die off around 9 or so. We have been fishing out on San Jose last couple of weeks and the trout are usually in 4 to 5 feet of water. Medium-size piggies has given us the best bite. If you use small ones, double them up on the hook.  On occasion and when the wind allows it, you'll find me somewhere out in the surf. Trout bite has been on fire with limits coming in around 8am. Croaker is the bait to use when out there. We have been getting mixed boxes with a few reds and a shark or two. If you decide to go to the surf, watch out for the rollers coming in as you can be swamped fairly easy. BE SAFE.  Nueces Bay has been producing trout as well. Bounce from reef to reef and look for the popping bait fish. Once you find the bait, cast close to the reef and you should see some results.

8-1-2016:  Summertime is officially here now that the heat wave is on! Temps here on the coast have been hot and the fish have been feeling it too. During this time of the year, you must get an early start and get your fish before the fish head for deep water and essentially “shut down” bite wise. I have noticed over the last couple of weeks that if I don’t get most of my clients limit of redfish before 9am it’s going to be a grind until the heat drives me off the water by about noon. Thankfully I have been able to get limits or near limits of reds before or around 10am most days. On the days that I don’t, it’s definitely a struggle because of the light winds and very clear water. Those two kinds of conditions really make it tough to catch fish in shallow water. Really frustrates me when I can find lots of fish, but can’t get close enough to catch them. Hopefully we’ll have some rain in August, and the wind will blow some to aide on my fishing charters. I still have about 10 days or so left in August in which to fill up completely for the month. School will also be starting up the last week or so of the month. So If you’re interested in booking a trip during August give me a call and we’ll get you in the books!
I still have some dates open this month, so if you would like to book a trip - give me call and we'll go stretch some lines!

8-1-2016  Rockport Aransas Pass Port Aransas and Corpus Christi fishing areas! Well it's hot and I mean hot...with water temperatures as high as I've ever seen right at 90 degrees and night-time air temperatures are at 80 degrees - that's pretty warm. I'm getting limits mostly every night. Gigging some good size flounder in the 16-21" range. Got into some really nice drum a few nights ago and some scattered sheepshead but they were kind of on the small-side. The drum are still good- size plus there is a large amount of bait in the bays - pin perch, mullet and shrimp seem to be everywhere! Also seeing large redfish close to drop-offs and along the channel edges - makes for easy pickin's when throwing cut mullet or live/dead shrimp there way! I did hear some excellent reports on trout that might help you: Start shallow early as the morning and then move deeper as the sun rises higher. Nice catches using croaker and piggies as well as free-lined shrimp! Have a great end-to-summer and thanks for looking in...Talk to you next month!

8-1-16: GREAT FISHING... HAPPENING NOW!!!

It is time to fish. Fishing has been awesome as of late. The early morning trout bite as been excellent. You will still want to fish deep reefs as the water is warm. Get yourself some good live croaker. Free line them over shell reefs in three to four feet of water. Don't for get to jog those croaker. You have to keep them moving and croaking. A slight jig will give you the action you need. The red fish have returned to the bay's. You will want some good fresh live finger mullet. Try fishing for them on the edges of reefs in two to three feet of water. The finger mullet are also great for flounder. This will be a subtle bite so give the flounder a chance to get the bait in his mouth before setting the hook. If you don't have any luck with the live mullet try cutting them up. Red fish can't resist a fresh cut mullet. Want some black drum? Live shrimp are working well. Find yourself a nice oyster reef that has some mud around it. The drum are in one to three feet of water right now. No luck on the live shrimp. Try peeling them. This will certainly get a drums attention. Are you planning a trip to Rockport? Plan ahead and book your trip now. We are rapidly approaching the best fishing months, Sept, Oct and November. Our calendar is beginning to fill up. Weekends always go first - so book early!  May you have following seas, bent rods and tight lines.

8-1-2016:  Hello Everybody, August should be outstanding. Trout are plentiful everywhere and they are eating croaker and piggy perch. They should continue through August hopefully on into September. Red fish are a little different story for most, but not all. they are eating piggy perch, pin perch, mullet and just about anything else you put in front of them. The reds will only get better as the water heats and there will be scattered fish kind of grouped together making limits very possible. Basically fishing is excellent and should continue in this manner through August. Do yourself a favor, come down to the Texas Coastal Bend - enjoy some of the finest fishing anywhere!!!

FLOUNDER GIGGING AT NIGHT IS FANTASTIC!  CALL: 361-790-3271-

8-1-2016: The hot water temperatures and lower tides have pushed a lot of fish off of the shallow flats around Aransas Pass. The lower tides have me running about a 30-45 minute boat ride to find a decent number of flounder. I estimate we have gigged approximately over four hundred fish in one spot this past month. The fish have been laying on deeper sandbars in about two and half feet of water, about one hundred yards off of the bank, and buried under the cooler sand bottom. The flounder are averaging in the two pound range. There might be one or two each night in the 3-4 pound range. Sheepshead and black drum are starting to show back up as well, and we have been able to add a few to the box. Book your trip NOW! Open dates available during late August or September.

8-1-2016: Hot summer all ready August can have more heat so make sure you dress with light clothing that can breath with quick dry material UV protection don't forget the sun screen, cap, and sun glasses. Don't forget hydration is the main key with heat and sunlight to help with this by drinking lot's of water and drinks with electrolytes if you ever get cramps from dehydration remember drinking pickle juice is quick and fast I mean at stopping cramps it's awesome. What's awesome is the fishing for redfish site casting at red blobs is fun seeing what your going to catch throwing mullet, perch, shade, crab, live shrimp, dead shrimp, artificial lures, and gulp on flats, cuts, back country, channels, reefs, sandy shorelines and drop-off-ditches. When you see awesome schools of drum, site cast at the gray spots, blobs, watch for tails - they are everywhere! It is so fun l have been doing this for over 25 going on my 26th year of fish guiding and growing up fishing the Rockport area all my life.  I never get tired of this and guess it just grows on me... it is so awesome fun seeing and fishing when the school of redfish and drum are like this the drum we are throwing dead shrimp, live shrimp, and gulp fishing shorelines, reefs, backcountry, flats, channels, cuts, drops and bays. We are hauling in the trout fishing with live croaker, live shrimp, live piggies, artificial lures, and gulp. Fishing is awesome with all the rain we have had it helps the salinity levels in the bays, flats and backlakes - making fish hold in these awesome spots, so come fishing with me and experience this type of fish thanks and have a great month.

8-1-2016: Hello South Texas Anglers!  This has been one hot and miserable july, the water on the shorelines is a whopping 91 degrees, this limits the numbers and size of flounder because they just won't stay up shallow for gigging very long, It's been tough this month and I can not say I'm getting limits of big flounder because it's just not true, the fish are 15 to 17 inches and a good night right now is 10 to 12 fish. What we need is a small tropical event to bring in some clean ,cooler water from the gulf and in it some fish for us to gig, the number of people getting into flounder guiding has doubled this year, every where I go now, boats, boats, and more boats at night, there's an awful lot of pressure on the poor little flat fish! All I can say is ,we will go out and I will do my best to get you some fish, and that's all I can do, when we get some weather and this hot dry pattern ends we will be on the fish again, till then, we make the best of conditions beyond our control. Fish on friends!

8-1-2016: Fishing has been great in Corpus Christi all the way from the Laguna Madre to Baffin Bay. Recently my professionally guided fishing trips have been catching a lot of trout, black drum, and redfish. Early in the morning we have been catching limits of trout with redfish mixed in on free lined Croaker or shrimp on a popping cork as well as lures. In the later part of the morning we have been catching limits of black drum with redfish mixed in on live and dead shrimp. If you're thinking about going on a guided fishing tour in the Corpus Christi or Port Aransas area, now is a great time to book your fishing charter.

7-1-2016: We have had lighter winds the past few weeks and the fishing has improved. Trout fishing has been best in the morning before the afternoon wind gets up. Fishing is still best for trout along the shorelines where you find areas of grass on the bottom. Live Croakers have been the most productive bait. If you're looking for quality over quantity then top waters have been producing early in the morning while wading along the shorelines. The wells in Corpus Christi bay have been holding some nice trout. Here soft plastics or live Croakers have been best. The shell reefs in copano Bay have been holding some nice trout. There are still scattered Reds on the flats. Anchor fishing with live pin perch has been the best method. Fish in water about 18 inches deep. Fresh cut Shad has been a good bait also. Book your trip and come on down while the weather is still calm.
